Whilst we use a computer to identify the fault, the fault codes that are shown can be caused for a number of reasons. This is why we follow a structured process to assess your vehicle as below
We will talk through the symptoms of the problem as well as assessing the vehicle whilst plugged into the computer. This will provide us with an overview of what the current issue is, as well as any previous issues (historic data is logged in the vehicle computer)
We will then undertake testing and analysis of the faults, research technical documentation and conduct further tests as required (e.g. voltage tests on components) to determine the cause of the issue.
Using the information in 1 and 2 as well as decades of experience with VW Audi group vehicles, we will confirm what the issue is and recommend a solution or repair. Some faults are sporadic in nature, so just clearing them will suffice, however usually if there is a warning light there is an underlying cause.
